PROJECT BACKGROUND

Branston Court is situated on the outskirts of the Maryhill area of Glasgow. It first opened its doors in 1988 and was one of the first Supported Housing Projects for young people. Since the project opened its doors its remit has changed over the years. We have developed a Multi – Cultural environment within the project working with both Young Single Homeless and Asylum Seekers.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Branston Court offers low to medium support for young male and females aged 16-25 years old. Our aim is to provide a safe and secure environment for all within the project. All the staff are involved in providing core life skill training to enable individuals to live independently within our communities.

PROJECT SUPPORT

On arrival at the project each resident will be allocated a key worker who will be responsible for coordinating the support required.  The worker will assist and encourage the young person to identify their needs through a personal development plan. Areas that maybe identified are Budgeting skills, Confidence Building, Cooking and Domestic Skills; this whole process can take anything from 3 months to 2 years.

PROGRAMME ACTIVITES

Branston Court offers a wide range of social and educational opportunities for all residents within the project. Activities include swimming, residential, ten-pin bowling, and social evenings.  Additional facilities at Branston Court include, internet suite, TV Lounge, and free laundry facilities. There are also opportunities to participate in YMCA programmes nationally and internationally

STAFFING

The staff team have a wide diversity of qualifications and experience that enhances the quality of service we can provide. We also have good working relationships with relevant professional agencies within the wider community.

GENERAL

The project is staffed 24 hours a day, and the building is continually monitored by security cameras. Branston Court will undertake a total refurbishment starting in January 2008.
