This project provides supported accommodation for adult men over 16 years of age. 15 bed spaces are available in this project, which is integrated, with the local community.
Pilton Project Overview The Pilton Project is a medium support unit, providing up to 6 months supported accommodation for male service users aged 16 and over.
Staff work with residents to enable them to prepare for independent living and as part of a multi agency network we support the service users in all aspects of Core Skills (literacy/numeracy), as well as providing support tailored to the individuals needs.
Project Background
The Pilton Project has 15 bed spaces, comprising 5 flats with 3 bedrooms in each flat.
The project has been open since December 2001 and has established an extensive network of support services throughout Edinburgh.
Vision
As with most medium support units, service users often have a variety of obstacles preventing them from securing and maintaining a tenancy of their own. Our primary objective is to provide an environment that allows the service users to address any problems they might have and assist them in securing suitable long-term accommodation.
There is a wide range of contacts, activities and events happening throughout Edinburgh in conjunction with other YMCA Glasgow managed projects at Broomhouse and West Pilton, all of which are geared towards helping homeless adults make informed choices.
Finally, we also aim to help residents develop their full potential through recreation, sport, vocational and educational pursuits.
