Seaforth House in the Langlees area of Falkirk provides supported accommodation for young single adults aged 16-25 years of age. 15 bed spaces are available in this project, which is integrated, in the local community.
YMCA Glasgow project staff are involved in providing core life skills training preparing our young people to live independent lives. The maintenance of tenancies has been a persistent problem for this client group with a high failure rate. Staff provide individual, tailor made support for young people to meet their particular needs. This includes budgeting skills, confidence building through organised sports and outdoor activities, time management, cooking and domestic skills. We are also engaged in the implementation of care plans, CVs, application forms and interview techniques. Our main aim is to improve the sustainability of tenancies and employment, enhancing the quality of life and opportunities for our residents.
YMCA Glasgow staff team and residents have been involved in community and inter agency liaison. We have built up relationships with Police, Social Work, The Advice Shop, Dawsons Residents Committee, Internet Cafe, and further education schools and colleges to mention but a few.
The YMCA Glasgow staff team has a wide diversity of qualifications and experience that enhance the quality of service we can provide. Falkirk Council has refurbished the building to a very high standard with communal areas in all flats with TVs and personal fridges in each room.
